At Chieftain Fabrics we use only select ingredients that have been tried and tested. Each one of our fabric components is sourced in Europe and this means that for all our fabric ranges, we have a transparent supply chain. This helps us ensure that only the very best ingredients go into our formulae.

We are lucky enough to have one of the foremost European experts on biocides working on our team, Dr. Malgorzata Kawka. She ensures that our formula and components are of an optimal standard and are informed by the most recent biocidal technology. Dr. Kawka relies on a number of reputable companies such as Ultrafresh TMCanada and SanitizedTM Switzerland to supply us with the most effective and reliable antimicrobial and antiviral ingredients.

Our ntimicrobial additive complies with the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) EU 528/2012 and is listed on the OEKO-TEX® list of Products with Biological Activity.

We tested our Just Colour against the Coronavirus in March of this year using the ISO 18184:2019 method (Determination of antiviral activity of textile products). Our UK laboratory used the closest possible surrogate of the outbreak strain available for testing.

It is understood that SARS-CoV-2, the virus which causes Covid 19 can survive on untreated plastic or polymeric surfaces for up to 72 hours. Source: Aerosol and Surface Stability of SARS-CoV-2 as Compared with SARS-CoV-1. Thanks to our biocidal formula, which is an inherent part of our fabric, the virus cannot replicate on our fabric and will be completely eliminated in just over one hour.

Our fabrics do not need any special antimicrobial agent to clean them. The biocidal component is contained within the fabric and continues to be effective throughout its life.
